Teletronix LA-2A
Pretty happy with the Teletronix LA 2 Blue Face. I record guitars using the POD and throw one over the Insert. I've been dialing in the JJ-Blues Guitar preset and adjust the gain and it is instantly present.

Great but not 5star
If you don't have a quad or octo do not get these or any UAD plugs. These eat up 8% of the dsp for the Twin Duo every instance of the plug.
Also UAD has yet to release high resolution images for the plugs for anyone running a 4-5k monitor. They look super blury.
They sound great though if you have the power to run more than a couple of them. Way more like gear than the waves version.

Fairchild Tube Limiter Plug In Collection
This Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection adds so much character
and depth that I can't live without it.
I use it on acoustic and electric guitars, drum loops and percussions

They nailed it. Awesome Analog goodness!!! This is how plugins should sound. Silky smooth filters. Brings out the fundamentals very nicely.

A real improvement over the Legacy version
I find this collection far more usable than the Legacy version, in terms of providing results that noticeably enhance my product. The range of impact can be anywhere from subtle to 11. This plugin is a blast to experiment with and sounds wonderful. Highly recommended. At the sale price + coupons, it's a steal.

Can't believe the difference this makes on my tracks. the LA-2 is simply amazing. I've used it on several different voices, instruments, genres -- blues to bluegrass -- and it's buutah! The silver and grey are great too. Haven't had a chance to use them as much yet, but the silver was killer on some acoustic guitar stuff I tracked. My favorite plugin so far.

Coolest compressor ever??
Without question the Fairchild has a reputation that precedes it, and not without reason. Instant vibe on any source. Personal favorites include piano and vocals. This particular emulation stands shoulders above the "competitor's." :)

One of the best UA plugs
Combine this with LA-2A on a drum bus and you're in heaven---you don't need the hardware. You need this. Top 5 UA plugs. Lot's of options, from subtle to squashing. I know some mixing engineers who have a uad card just for this. Good CPU to performance ratio, doesn't cash your system like the also awesome 1073 and Ampex plugs.

This enhances the vocals like no other
The LA-2A collection is pure magic. Simply adjust the 'Peak Reduction' and the 'Makeup gain' and you will obtain the best sound as posible in your vocal chain. This is the ultimate effect for the main role actor in your mix. It brings a brilliant, present sound, but natural, silky and well-defined. When you try it on main solo (vocal or instrument) you won't ever ask for more.
The perfect chain for vocal: Pultec--_Cambridge EQ --_LA-2A--_EMT 140 plate. These four effects rise the vocals to AAA result without any shadow of doubt. And if you add the Studer A800 at the beginning, the magic is done even more.

The best compressor
This collection of compressors works incredible with basses, bassdrums, snares or any percussive instrument. You won't find any device which treats the sound better than this. The musical character and the smooth and silky finish will amaze you. On the other hand, you will receive a punchy sound: solid and present. Highly recommended.

A MUST
This piece of gear must be present in every channel/bus/mix.
The simple act of inserting a pultec with flat settings enhances the sound whatever it be. Nevertheless, if you tweak any parameter, the result is still musical and warm for every sound. I have used it on almost all instruments (vocals, pianos, guitars, drum elements, synths...) and the result is always AAA. Highly recommended.
