very cool sound but suboptimal ergonomics
If the API Vision would'nt sound so cool and musically flexible as it sounds i would not use it because - for me (!) - the user interface is very suboptimal to handle. The "original" optics which ideally fit's on a hardware console sometimes feels if i will break my hands on my mouse.
It would be really nice to get a switchable alternative simple user interface (ideally with all UAD "vintage emu" plugins) with modern computer GUI elements like sliders and input fields (as on the nice precision series) just for work - for situations / times where original or "natural" optics is less important for the creativity.

best master tape emu i worked with
The UAD Ampex is truely and just the best sounding of all master tape emus i tried and worked with in the past - including Waves, Slate and how they all call all. If you have the chance - A/B it (reading the manual is very inspiring too, while i'm usually hate manuals) and you definitely WILL buy it

I've been tracking vocals through UAD 1073 to La2a Grey and I've been getting fantastic results. I use the hardware Neve 1073 with the Apogee Symphony at my main studio but I don't think I'm missing out on any aspect for using Apollo w/ plugins for tracking. If i'm building an another studio, I'd definitely go with Apollos w/ UAD Plugs. (I'm a Pop/Urban Producer/Mixer)

API Vision this is very good !!!!
Without a doubt my favorite plugin in unison item preamp. He gives a very real and very solid at the sound characteristic. I loved it in use on snare and also on guitars besides giving much life the voices !!! I highly recommend it

Great sounding channel strip.. As a API hardware user I was really pleased with good sounding emulation. Its getting so close to the hardware , just insane! great job!!

Very nice tape emulation!
Well, I really like it a lot. Already had the Slate Digital VTM and Waves KMT and I have to say the UA Ampex takes the crown from the VTM (except for the multi instance grouping function of VTM). I mostly use it in slow tape speeds due to preferring the effects in the lower frequency range and I love how it glues the whole mix together. Excellent sounding plug-in!

Wow!
I just got an apollo twin and a sweet ass mic. I am a complete rookie when it comes to recording and mixing. Though this plug makes everything sound better. Like everything! I usually put it on my output channel and crank that baby up. Sounds like baby Jesus riding a badass unicorn rhino, ejaculating in your ears and whispering "everything is cool man" with his honey lips. Yes, I do recommend this product.

Pultec Passive EQ Collection
Since I started using this plug in 2 weeks ago it has become by go to eq collection for colour. The character it imparts is sublime, as it adds something that I simply have not found in other emulations I've used. Does is sound exactly like the hardware? I don't know but it has added something magical to nearly every source I've tried it on!

it`s simply perfect
i tried it first when i got my uad2-quad, but i didn`t really got the concept, but when i saw the great price a few weeks ago i thought: let`s give it another try.
and after reading the manual i was enlightened immediately and since then i use it in every project.
it just sound so good and you can get this nice warmth and presence as you would expect from an old analog legend.
so far it`s the UAD plugin i`m most happy with

Great on vocals!!!
I don´t have hardware versions of these (I´d love to) but UA LA-2A bundle sounds terrific on vocals and bass.
I recently recorded a Harry Connick Jr. cover called "Just like me", just to try the new UA plugins I bought with my new Octocore card. It is a very simple song and I wanted to capture the airy, clean, punchy, sound of the record with that modern vintage vibe. Here´s the link in case you wanna take a listen.

Initially I chose 1176 bundle, but I had to buy LA-2A bundle after hearing how the demo version sounded on vocals. It´s so easy to get the correct sound. A sound I just couldn´t get with 1176 (which is terrific on drums and guitars).
