Ampex tape machine
I've got a few tape emulations this one adds the magic I like , I'm not a pro audio engineer but this seems to add the weight and depth that people rave about, makes my mixes sound better which is good enough for me.

Best Tape Emulation in the Market
Best Tape Emulation in the Market, Great on the Master Buss

Amazing plugin !
I use it on my guitars, it fits perfectly into my mixes. I do really recommend it.

ok as
nice as an EQ/Compressor effect but wouldn't pay more than a few dollars for it. It can mess up your dynamics and nice clean recording which is good or bad depending on how old you are haha. I'm personally so glad to not have to suffer tape machines anymore these days having been recording since the 70's and owned and repaired a dozen machines from 1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 1". 2" as engineer and service tech so know them inside out literally. I use this for it's texture. I just wish the interface was clean with faders instead of graphics. I'm trying to make things sound good and could not give a toss what the plugin looks like. I need minimum fuss and memory/DSP usage.

Another color that was not in my plugin forest before.

Strategic Weapon
As I used a real one in 80s , I love the sound of tapes and all their nuances .
This plugin , very close to original one is helpful to change the nuance, harmonics, dynamics and EQs of the programs or instruments in very special way. Be careful ! !t’s addictive ;).

The glue
I got true Ampex and Studer tape plugins. Both are great, use em on drum buss and main to give my beats that analog glue I have been missing since my Otari reel to reel is currently broken this is the closest thing I can use to get that warmth and crunch.

How Is That Even Possible?
The first words I spoke when I tried this plugin in my mastering chain was, "How is that even possible?" I've never purchased any UAD plugins until now, and the Ampex emulation was my first. The presets are pretty much all you need, just find the preset that suits the song and mastering needs best, and you're all set. It's as simple or complicated as you want it to be, and it sounds amazing. This one plugin will most likely replace 2-3 plugins in my chain, and that's something I've never encountered in my last decade of producing music. Now that this plugin is native, and for the price it's currently at, this is one of the very few plugins I've begged all my producer friends to get. If I ever need new plugins, I think I'll be checking UAD first. Do yourself the favor and grab this.

Outstanding!
I am old enough to have used actual reel-to-reel tape in recordings and I can assure you that this plugin comes very close to emulating the real thing. It's all about the warmth; the sound. Great job on this one.

Get this great TAPE emulator !
The Ampex ATR-102 is a fantastic all rounder TAPE emulator for your DAW and tracks and tunes. It's amazingly warm and great for saturation. It has a nice wobbly vibe to it that makes sound stand out, well to my ears anyway. Get it today and add it to your plugin chain.

Waiting for the true version
This plugin is lacking in sound and features. It is not the native version, it is another simpler version. Still waiting for the true version, but native.

Incredibly Good
Sometimes I think to myself, wait a minute, I now have enough plugins to get by with them and I have to put in the time to get to know them well. But now I'm amazed again and how does UA manage to make something like this, so incredibly good.

Go for it..
I had the oxide 1st. I like this on the master bus and the oxide for most tracks.
This thing has all the options and sounds great so far. I'm done after this last plugin... lol

Great tape!
One of the best tapes plugins that i've tried.

Top notch
This is a wonderful plugin, have found it useful in tracking and mix scenarios. No idea if it sounds like a tape machine as I haven’t used one for over twenty years but when it works it works really well at adding an elusive, subtle, weighty, gluey, dimensional sauce.

The Long Wait Is Over!
I’ve been waiting for this to go native for a very long time. I used to own the satellite and used this on many, many masters. I decided to get rid of that clunky device and unfortunately, this was one of my biggest pain points missing from my workflow after. We are SO back!

Brilliant
Hands down, the best tape emulations I've heard. And I've tried them all, paid or free, big developers or indie. Plus, between the Ampex and the Studer, each with versatile adjustment options, you can cover the entire range of tape timbres you may want.
Any of them, when used on a track and gain adjusted well, instantly adds texture, depth, a beautiful mid focus, the right kind of brilliance (no brightness, which, to me, means harshness, but sparkly brilliance - you can harshen it out, if you want to, but why would you?), a very well balanced rounding of transients, keeping - even adding punch and openness, but removing harshness, thinness and tin. They also remove mud in a beautiful way - rebalance the freq spectrum very well. Between these and the preamp sims I use, these are the plugins that almost by themselves give reamped DI tracks, or virtual instrument based, the polish, depth and quality of pro analog recordings. Repeated instances of each - tracks and master - pres and summers on all tracks and buses, and you're almost there. A little space/reverb for 3D, and you're there.
And I love the gain matching for the Luna extensions (native, too, for Ampex).
If I had any complaints, they would be these:
- For Ampex, the center position on the Input gain knob corresponds to almost the max position on the Output gain, in terms of the calibration for matched gain. That allows you very little room to decrease the Input gain, before the Out maxes out, and then the gain matching no longer works. I think the gain matching should be calibrated for both knobs in the central positions, which would allow for the full range of gain settings while maintaining an even signal.
- The automatic gain matching for both plugins increases the output level a little - not too much, but noticeable - once you increase the saturation. I think the matching algorithm should take that saturation into account, so that the out precisely match the in.
- In-Out linking (gain matching) should be implemented for for the native version of Studer, too, not just the extension. (For Oxide, too)
Beyond that, no reproach. Excellent sound, plenty of adjustments available, and the gain matching is always extremely useful. Just needs to be improved, and available throughout the series. Among the plugins the make me the happiest, and certainly my go to for tapes.
