Amazing Sound
This Plugin Sounds Awesome but the main reason to buy this guy is that Unison Technology, i've got a Neve 1073 Clone Preamp with Carnhill transformers and all and this plugin sounds very Similar!...so instead of having just one great preamp now i have Five! ( Apollo quad user Here! ), totally worth that price!...on mix mode it's a Fat and sweet plugin and you can crank it and it won't crap out!...i put 4 stars because the DSP consumption it's ridiculously...other than that, oh i love the fact that you get the Legacy versions...i didn't have that guys so having them no now it's a real treat!...

Neve 1073 Preamp & EQ
Hallo Musikfreunde,
Warum?
Mit freundlichen Grüßen

great so far
let's compare apples to apples here:
vs. real hardware? - have little idea, as I don't own the hardware to compare
vs. legacy 1073? - much great range of tones (i.e. clean to dirty) due to preamp input gain stage. Really like the dirt I can get by overdriving it. Different from any other distortion effect I have.
I am using this on UAD-2 quad PCI so can't offer an opinion as to how the Unison interaction is working on the Apollo Preamps.

Great sound!
I haven't used this plugin to record with yet, but soon enough (I'm lucky to get to record on Neve 80 series console on a regular basis, want to do an A/B comparison.) I have been using this on drum busses, bass, vocals, during ITB mixing, and it really does add a Neve-like thickness and heft to the sound. Turning up the line input level is a must! The EQ is great - Top end is smooth, Low end is big, filters are good. Can't wait to try some remote recording with this plugin! Very pleased so far.

NEVE 1073 sound is great tool.
1073 EQ is very good!! I think ,this is easy to use.1073 have harmonic distortion sound and natural feeling.

Whatever it is I just can't stop!
I really love what this does to this thing called music. It inspires to make good instruments to sound musical and gives good things to the soul. The EQ adds delicious amounts of bottom and highs while maintaining a thorough middle. Only drawback is that you can't put it on too many tracks. If you could, this would easily have gotten 5 stars! Ace product UA. Keep on rocking in the Free World.

Great on Vocals
Awesome plug... great on vocals. Great to track through, works great with the control integration.

Preamp Emulation
I use the Apollo system as a portable rig for live and location recording. The basic preamps in the apollo are quite usable, but the 1073 plug-in adds harmonic character and intensity of tone. I have the UA-610 plug as well; they both improve the results that I get when tracking through the Apollo's preamps. I use both pre's for mixing as well-- when I want to add weight without serious compression. What I really want? A higher end version of the Apollo with better analog circuitry, and more inputs. The Apollo is close to being a studio-in-a-box for me-- I'd be happy to pay a premium for a higher end version!

Impressive
Best sounding emulation of the neve 1073 hardware hands down.
I "reamped" some parts through it and i must say I just wish I had more CPU power so i could put that on every channel of my DAW.
It really captures the sweet sound of the hardware, very good to take out some harshness on high freq.
A must have on the UAD2.
I'll just put 4 stars because i think this should have been a free upgrade for previous NEVE bundle users.

Unmatched Neve tone, this is a digital must have!!
This UAD 1073 pre/EQ is very rich in tone and contains much of the color that I look for when using hardware 1073's or any of the many clone of it's kind. Universal Audio has certainly detailed it amazingly.

Step up from the 1073 legacy
I used to use the 1073 legacy on pretty much all of my tracks that needed EQ, and this combo with the pre-amp seems to add just a bit more presence and clarity. Really like the colour of the pre-amp when hitting it hard. Great stuff!

Sounds GREAT !
Great sounding Plugin. Has that warmth Neve sound. Now I have it permanantly inserted at the inputs of my Apollo. Just two things:
(1) If you have a small monitor, the EQ frequency and the EQ +/_ will take some precise mouse work.
(2) I bought it just a couple of weeks' ago, at $299, and now it's at $149. Should have waited.
Well....that's the nature of the game I guess. At least I'm very happy on the "sound" part.

Mk II is worth it, but comes at a big DSP cost
Big improvement over MKI. The coloration of the signal path is very useful.
Many possibilities by using mic/line, pad, and output gain adjustments.
Like the hardware, good for adding sheen and heft.
Even better in Unison mode, really a bummer not to be able to access this feature from Apollo 16. Quite a DSP hog.

Not your "general purpose" preamp, but very good at what it does
This unison preamp is great for most instruments and music styles that needs a little edge and warmth (in lack of a better term). I´ve used it on bass, guitars and vocals with good results, and it´s easy to get a rough vintage vocal sound with the (as always) great presets included (classic 70s rock comes to mind). If you´re ever in a situation where you think something in the lines of "this track is too smooth, I need an old Neve console", this plugin is made for you. Good value for money, as far as I can tell. Works magic alongside the Studer tape recorder plugin (but that´s another story).

Neve Upgrade
Nice to have the improvement of tone on the gain knob, with independent control over output. EQ sounds great on snare, vox, ...everything, but is it an upgrade from the original 1073 UAD plugin?

Generally likeable
I have real world experience with the 1073. I worked at United Sound Systems studios in Detroit from 1987 - 1993. In 1988, we switched out the studio Flickinger console with a Neve 1073 purchased from NBC in Burbank. My hopes was to capture the sound (somewhat) of the combination of the Studer A-880 we had in that room and a the Neve 1073 console. I like its effect on signals. I haven't gotten the hang of simpler things, such as switching the pad and/or impedance switches. the cursor has no effect on them. If there is a trick to it, I apparently haven't learned it. [I might have gone for 5 stars otherwise]. am optimistic on what the future hold for me with this emulated USS emulation (including the LA-2A's, 1176's, dBX 160's, EMT PR's, etc

nice!
It's deeper than old 1073 plug-in and has more open sound.
But it takes 9% of dsp power in my uad octo card.
Except dsp issue, it will be my go to eq.
