Very Good....
I must confess i demo`d this plug months ago and just by experiment with presets, i did n like him, but fortunately UA resets demos in every new release, and i had a second opportunity to demo it...my advice: take your time and demo it in the master buss, Drums, basses and some vocals, and you will see that´s one of the best plugins made by UA and Brainvox...i can´t stop using it anymore. Congratulations UA for given us the chance to have the taste of one so expensive machine in our mixes.

Absoulutely amazing
I'm a big fan of Brainworx plug ins and this one is absolutely amazing. It can glue, enhance and compress the material and it looks as it sounds.

The Ultimate Compressor
I have never been able to achieve this type of compression before. When i really want to smack something this is what I am using!! Great investment for #engineeraudio

This is just awesome... great compressor, or shoud I say compressors?
Can't go wrong with this... Like it very much. Shave off with the first compressor & let the second compressor do the real tough work... nice.

Nice compression, no coloration
The Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor is another Brainworx product and you can hear that instantly. The compression algorithms are nice, but there is almost no harmonic coloration. It sounds very clean without adding any color, character or vibe to the sound. The plug-in interface looks awesome but the sound is rather mediocre. Looking under the hood (17 instances vs. 4 instances for the FATSO per DSP) you quickly realize the true quality of the plug-in shows only in its visual interface not in the sound quality underneath it. I would love to see an emulation of the Shadow Hills Compressor done by Softube, they put sound first and invest time and time again into actually replicating the analog sound and simply get it right.

I love it very much. I does something magical to music. Thou it has a little Less body than the original, I think that for the price, it is a great buy!!

To be honest, I was a bit sceptical about this emulation at first because it was not made by Universal Audio and does not use a lot of DSP power. Nothing but prejudices because as it turned out Brainworx made a fantastic sounding plugin with apparantly very efficient programming.
So far I have used it as mastering unit and it does an excellent job on my program material (dense electronic music including acoustic sounds). The way it grabs the music is very nice and unique. The unit enhances the material without changing it original tone but if you want to you can even add some color with the transformers. Highly recommended plugin.

Before owning this compressor, I would compare my masters to commercial released rap/hip/hop music. For example, my master's needed 2-3 clicks more volume when played back via phone. I kept saying to myself, how the hell are they getting this _hit loud. Adding this to my chain made the difference. Be careful, the distortion sounds good. It took me a while to realize I was distorting more than I wanted to.
It looks awesome. The design of the left channel compressors are opposite the right making the workflow awkward at first. This will become a front runner in your plugin chain, that problem will go away soon.

I would rate this a 10 if I could (on a scale from 1 to 5).
I didn't want this plug in. AT ALL! I love the hardware unit...have lusted after it for years. A plugin version doing it justice? No WAY! I had my mind on the 33609 anyway...because I love what it does for dialogue. I tested it though. Like I tested the 33609 and the SSL Bus comp.
I brought it into a feature mix I did a while ago and tested this, the SSL Bus Comp, and the 33609 on my busses against what I had there already (mostly the Fabfilter Pro C-which I love). While the 33609 won out on the dialogue but, the Shadow Hills Mastering comp was a close second. The magic really happened when I put it on the other busses. I could go on about what happened next, but I'm running out of characters. I'll let you test for yourselves.

Like All of my UAD Plugs this one made Everything I tried it on sound Warmer and Fatter and that was just using the Presets !

AMAZING boost your drums into space
This Plug-in is a must have...
On drum buss it's a incredible power right at your hand.
Very nice for dance mastering on main out.

Mix Bus Companion
I use it on the mix bus on mellow stuff and it's amazing. 1 db of gr on the optical, 1-2 dbs on the discrete, sidechain filter on, output tranny to taste.
Never had much luck on harder stuff with it, but maybe it's just me.
It can also help in mastering situations where the material needs some treatment (re-shaping/coloring) before going to my analog chain.
I think it's a good buy. Even with so many cool plugin compressors around, this guy does something others won't.

Top notch gear!
I´ve been thru most of the reviews, and i see it´s a plug in that is either loved or hated - i think that´s makes it even more special ;)
But it´s definitely the best compressor i have from UAD beside Neve.
For me it adds that extra subtle glims and wideness. And as i don´t have the Neve Buss Compressor, it´s the one for me to use. I compared it to all other UAD compressors and it stands out. And i don´t find it difficult to use - mind you i´m not an expert at all.

Are you kidding me?
Not sure what the complaints with this plugin are about. I have been using it for mastering. Nothing out there can compare. It has made my tracks dynamically musical, warm and natural sounding without any loss of detail in the music itself.
I absolutely love his plugin. I'm mixing hard rock and blues with this thing, and there isn't a genra out there that this wouldent kick ass for.
Pricey, but after the demo, I had to have it.
