UA 175B & 176 Tube Compressor Collection

Good for software

Software compressors just do no at all sound like hardware. Eqs are close but not compressors. This thing does not sound 100% like my hardware 176. I would say it sound 30% or so like my hardware. But that is not too bad as most sound nothing at all like their hardware. This does not at all replace my 176 but I can put it on tracks not so important and it sounds better that a stock comp. I bought it on sale for $39. Good deal for that. But I would not buy it for full price. Save up and buy the real thing.

very nice character. almost as if an 1176 and a LA2A had an offspring. acts somewhat like an 1176 in speed and control but has the flavor of a LA2A. quite the workhorse

Warmth

This is a great source to add warmth. There is an additional plus point and that is thickening up of sounds. With a snare that seems to thin slap on and adjust to taste.

Unmatched depth and clarity

This is a real gem, smooth, silky, analog - and it can sound really thick and nasty, too. A good as it can be.

UA 175B & 176 Tube Compressor Collection

Having bought the 1176 collection, I was a bit sceptical of these, but the 176 is now a permanent fixture in my vocal chain. it's quite different to the 1176 and SO FAT! I'm trying my best not to use it on everything - because it sounds great ON everything. The 175B is my 'go to' Hammond compressor and it's great on guitars too, love it!
