Is this worth getting into the UA2 ecosystem alone?
Is this worth getting into the UA2 ecosystem alone? Well it costs considerably less than the real thing, you can have many of them working at the same time, trying to fit multiple Studers in a studio, let alone a home setup is going to be painful in more ways than one.
And then there's the impression that I get that it just sounds RIGHT. Unlike a lot of tape emulations! I can't quite explain it, it's sometimes quite subtle differences, but long listening you just don't feel it's artificial, or an EFFECT. It's tape without the tape.

good old snap and punch
Speed, timing and snap like nothing else, typical good old API. Colour or not to taste and there you are. The EQ is the old no-nonsense goodness, just select those special frequencies and you're off to the races, no confusion here.
If you need incredible precision with EQing, well there's other digital tools for that, but for a lot of stuff, you can get away with the API EQ and it's very nice in a more neutral kind of way compared with it's contemporaries, which equals less problems from the start, a good base to build from, rather than having to notch out certain frequencies later on.

I can't mix without it
The Pulteq v2 lives on my 2buss. This plugin is one of the reasons I find it totally practical to mix ITB. This is one of the best models on the UAD platform by far.

I like IT!
I don't know why people say don't use it on the 2 buss. Some songs it works great on the 2 buss and some it does not. Main thing to tweak is the low end going through it. I have starting just putting it on a buss and dialing in how much I want of it on each individual instrument.

I Love It!!
Just a great compressor, simple to use and effective for gentle and smash it to bits compression. Nice for keeping things warm and organic sounding. Everyone should have one.

It Just Works
It's really hard to make this plugin sound bad. I've used another company's Pultec emulation for years and never knew what I was missing until I pulled up this demo. There's just so much more life and smoothness to what it's doing. Between the sale and my coupon, I couldn't resist!

great sound / very few dsp needs
I use to work with the J37 tape simulator from Waves, on a bus track, sending lots of the instruments in it.
Now, and consequently to its very few dsp needs, I can plug the Oxide Tape on almost every tracks I have.
And I'm telling you, it sounds great. It does something really subtle and essential at the same time, it's bonding my tracks one another.

So useful for shaping tracks
I was so pleased how unique this plugin was after using it for a while, its not like the other tape plugs...... it really gives you more unique shapes that can really transform your track into more tonal shapes than other tape emulations.
This is a must have along with the Studer and Ampex to me.

Love it after a shaky start
I received this plugin free with my Satellite OCTO, and thought it would be the least likely plugin I'd ever use. I thought it was quite average at first then I watched some tutorials and learned how to use it properly. Now I find myself firing it on almost anything. I love how you can overdrive the preamp it sounds immense, the compressor and gate is also very tight. The EQ is nice too, I personally prefer graphic EQs but I find it nice to add just a bit of top end sheen without it sounding to harsh. My main vocalist also loves tracking her vocals with the API present saying it has never sounded so good in the cans.

Always good
My go to EQ when I need something beautiful.

Just perfect for tracking
I use it for all kind of acoustic instruments for tracking, sound changes right away in a very analog and clear sounding dimension.
Well done!

BAD F****** ASS
An absolutely remarkable emulation of the original hardware units. It's really hard to tell them apart.

Warm that Mix up!
This plugin is a time machine that'll take you back to a far away place where music sounded warm and beautiful to the ear.
It's a must have for any digital environment.
.
API it's definitely a must
This should be one of the first plugins you grab!!! Highly recommend, this pretty much sounds good with any sound you put through it!!

There's a reason this plugin is iconic...
That reason is it boost and reduces bass at the same time. You have to hear it to believe it. It has it's own tone, but once you know how to use it you can boost those lows without getting mud. Here's how to do it: CPS at 30. Bandwidth to 7. ATTN to 10. Start boost at 0 and slowly turn it up. Bass will be epic. Wanna do vocals? MEQ-5. EQP-1A. Your voice is now gold. This is a must have plugin.

Love the UAD plugins, especially the La-2a collection. My favourite is the silver face but they all offer something very usable! I have two Apollo's and i love that i can use them on the way in!! Keep up the good work UAD!!
