Nice channel strip for vocals
Just started using the API channel strip on vocals and the sound is nicely focused and easy to EQ. I still have to try it as an Unison plug but I expect the result to as good as what I hear mixing with it. Not familiar with the hardware version so can't compare but really happy with the soft-version.

Great Lexicon sound
The Lexicon 224 sound in a fantastic plugin from UA. I do mostly vocals and use the 224 extensively in my everyday work. 5 Stars.

Lexicon 224 Reverb PlugIn
I've tried both Lexicon 224 and RMS 16 on vocal tracks. Although I liked RMS 16 too, but I purchased Lexicon 224 because it's capable of creating much more detailed reverb tail and definition. It is a great reverb plugin!

This is a super smooth set of EQs. You set the EQ and almost don't realize how much work it is doing until you bypass it for comparison. Warms up your low end very nicely and can control how much bite the high end has in the mix. The boost in the lows sounds amazing on cello specifically. It is my go-to plugin to add a little spice/warmth to a dead-sounding track.

Worth it.
I have the Ampex however to be honest stretching for the Studer also really seemed a far stretch. I was dubious at first as its not as flexible as the Studer however the simple fact is it sounds good and the price is good. I work in a place with old unused Studer machines in many of the Studios, modern digital remodelling although not quite so perfect to their emulations is so close its not worth, for the average person, shelling out. Just like 70mm film not everyone can do it as its so expensive, but a good movie on digital is still a good movie. This is a good tape emulation to enjoy using.

A Must Have
You spent a lot of money for your DSP Card?
Buy this plugin is a must.
This is THE COMPRESSOR for any channel (or better a limiter) from the company that made the original, do i have to say more?

Amazing plugin (review plus a little tip).
The filters on this thing are amazing! It's magic! The compressor and limiter are also among the greatest I have used! My top is to run plugins through waves q clone to see what the compressor/plugin does to the signal and my God does this do a lot. Cuts crap out and boosts where you want it. Try q clone!

LA2A Satisfaction
I had fallen in love with the 1176 that I had been using from UAD previously on Vocals, bass and drums!I wasn't ready for the sound and power of the LA2 leveler collection!Thank you UAD team!!I'm a happy Chappy !

just classic
works on almost every source. Use it espacially on vocals, sounds great. Just turn the knob for peak reduction and bring up the gain, very simple to use - powerful tool!

Just the best plugin emulation!
This plug-in is awesome! I have the Universal audio 6176 and it is amazing how close the compressor plug-in is. What's even nicer with the plug-in collection is now I have several different 1176 modeled editions which makes it very useful for all types of material. This is a must in your toolbox.

LA2A Wonderful!
This is by far the best LA2A plugin emulation on the market. I like the analog vibe these plugins add to my tracks! This is a must have for Vocal's, Bass, Guitar, and just about anything you throw at it.

Just Amazing!
What a great plugin! The channel strip is very clean with a little analog warmth. I think it has one of the best gate and compressor I ever used on a channel strip. I also like the idea you can turn off parts of the channel strip to conserve DSP power. I also love the idea of tracking with this plugin using the new Unison Technology with my new Apollo 8 black face thunderbolt unit. Great Job UA! keep them coming. I would highly recommend this plugin.

WOW...just WOW
I am not going to lie....With all the hype around the ATR 102 (which I bought about the same time). I assumed the A800 would be slightly less impressive. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! The A800 is amazing!!! What it does to the low end in phenomenal!!! The luxury of not dealing with an actual tape machine makes the world (and my projects) a better place :)
I do however wish that Oxide was includes in the bundle :(

serious compressor
Perhaps the first plugin compressor I've used with total confidence. It's a clear enhancement to the legacy version and I use it a lot when tracking synths. Haven't tried the 1176 yet, but this one's a keeper.

instant fatness
until recently the AMPEX has been my go-to tape plugin. since i purchased the Oxide tape i tend to use this one more often. it´s easier and to use and eats less DSP power. i must admit the roundness and fatness this tape emulation delivers is probably far off from what a real tape recorder would do. but who cares: this Oxide plugin thing gives me that instant fatness thing. one of my favourite UAD plug-ins.

La-2a
Was never really a big fan of the la2a in general. I usually reach for something with a little more character, like an 1176. But surprisingly, the la-2 is becoming a more common plugin in my work place because it actually adds a character to the sound that i feel is lost on the new 2a's

No difference to the hardware
Awesome! I do not like it to write .... I have the original hardware .... But I do and this tool sounds exactly like the hardware and the workflow is absolutely the same. This piece is a nobrainer. You can buy it without a try it's awesome and every penny is well invested even if you use it as a normal channelstrip in your daw or as the legendary unisono preamp. Rock on!

Awesome
When I bought my Apollo I had a minimal budget for plug-ins. I chose the API Vision for the greatest flexibility for the price. It totally delivers. It makes whatever you place it on sound better. The preamp gain is awesome as are the rest of the modules. I use the comp and EQ on every instance and they really help sweeten things up and help them sit in a mix. The only downside is that it is moderately resource intensive so even with a Quad you can only cover a few tracks in a mix. I also bought the SSL E Series Channel Strip which I place on every channel reserving the API for critical tracks such as main vox, bass, kick, snare, etc. I wouldn't say you can get by with just one plug-in but this is definitely the first I suggest.
