I'd used various emulations of this and just decided to bite the bullet and get the UA version. Very glad that I did. A must have for drum mixing!

hard to believe how good this still sounds
adds a very pleasant thickness and body in the low mids without sounding muddy. doesn't dull the high end like a lot of compressors tend to. well known as one of the best guitar compressors for a reason, and it makes every virtual amp sound better when used like a pedal. great on bass when used in subtle or extreme ways, like pinning the GR meters in limit mode and cranking the gain. a hugely useful and versatile tool.

Great for bass
I know this is mainly used as a vocal front end but, on a whim, I tried the demo of the Avalon as a high-end DI emulation for bass guitar and was seriously impressed. I’ve now bought the plugin and use it for all of my bass needs as well as for vocals, horns etc. It’s pretty much displaced the Eden and Ampeg bass amp plugins whenever I want a clean modern sound with presence and a solid low end. Great piece of kit.

A simple and beautiful plate!
So easy to use. Either you want to put a long plate to a vocal or anything similar, or you want to add some short space to drums, it works. A good example that shows that hundreds of settings aren't needed to achieve a good sound.

I've been using the hardware for years, and I'm impressed by the emulation.
Amazing job, UAD ! When you have a good and expensive mic, you want to make to route to a trusted mic amp. the VT737 a highly recommended and trusted amp you can use with complete peace of mind.

If you want something solid, silky and full this is the piece you need. Will be a staple in your studio as well. Can’t beat having as many Avalon’s as you can at once!!!!

Great Sound
Makes vocals sound amazing. A singer I work with loves how his voice sounds so warm and punchy. Dont even need to process his vocals much after. Great Product. You guys at Universal Audio really matched the original Hardware great job.

Unbelievably Awesome
First, the Apollo x4 is a “beast.” I’ve been using a different audio interface with my Yamaha HS8 monitors and it’s always sounded dull. But after connecting the X4, there was a total different sound from my Hs8. It sounded alive and clean. I didn’t have to turn the volume all the way up to hear my music.
Second, the preamps are awesome. I’m spending more time recording now than ever.
Third, the plugins are a miracle. They do wonders.
The console is awesome.
