Empirical Labs EL8 Distressor Compressor
The Empirical Labs EL8 Distressor Compressor Is a must have for my Studio. I have a lot of different Compressors, but this one is the best. There’s nothing like it for any Instrument

One to rule them all
This thing is fantastic. Great on its own or so versatile to work with many other compressors

The distressor is amazing
I love the plugin of the distressor. It is amazing, I just wished there was the gain reduction showing on the pro tools mixer. Other than that it is perfect

A Handy Option
I bought this on the same day as the Neve 1073 and the Distressor and I am quite impressed by all three and especially by the hardware characteristics of these 3 choices. The dbx160 won't get as much use here as the other two, which absolutely and pleasantly surprised me in a BIG way with versatility and great color, but it's a useful, basic tool that has helped deliver the sounds of legends over the decades without a doubt and I have wanted a dbx160 plugin for a long time. I am glad that I waited and bought the UA version. UA has my favorite sounding plugins without question.

Some of the best!
I have found UA’s plugins always sound great. These are no exception. I have especially been enjoying the Avalon and Studer plugins.

Best chorus sound!
I’ve been writing a lot of meditation and spiritual music lately, and this plug in has been my secret weapon. It sounds so natural and pleasing to the ear. I’ve been using it on strings, synths, and some percussion. This is my go to chorus.

Just wow!!
This sounds just like the original, and instead of buying a unit and using it on one thing I can put this plug in on whatever I like!! I love love love the mix knob…such a clutch addition.

Unavoidable !
Throughout my career as a musician in the biggest Parisian Recording Studios ( France ) I saw it placed on the SSL & NEVE consoles... From now on, I have it in my computers ( with its big sister, the 480 ! ) and I am delighted !

My favorite tape echo!
It sounds like a real tape with those pitch and glitch movements! I usually set the delay slightly to the left and the reverb to the right - this gives a very nice space to the sound. And since it can't be set to a very long delay, I put another plugin before it with an extra delay to achieve slower repeats. The sound is so real!

This compressor is a miracle!
I've tried all sorts of 20-knob compressors and finally the LA-2A sounds better again :-) It's been my favorite compressor for decades! The Gray version is my first choice for vocals and piano (usually after another quick compressor). The Silver one I use more for other instruments. And the LA-2 is very special! It's very slow, but if matched with some smoother instrument (synth or pad), the sound becomes amazing!

Amazing!
I love the amp options. Great for live. Bough it and went straight into my live rig.

Iconic Reverb
Iconic reverb from the past. Superb on vocals. It's so convenient to have it as a plugin in your arsenal!

It's truly analogue.
It's truly analogue. For those who have used tube music. It's the closest.
