Tracking Sweet Vocals
Using Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection with my Apollo to track vocals was awesome. I saved thousands on my front end by tracking through the plug-in. Sounds amazing

Fantastic for color!
I've only had the pleasure of using the hardware Fairchild 670 once - at Abbey Road 2 - so my reference is limited. But over the last couple weeks I've found myself inserting the 660 and 670 on almost everything while tracking with the Apollo. Many times I'm simply running signals thru it for a bit of color, other times I'm going for no more than 1-2 dB of gain reduction. I honestly have no clue how "authentic" these plugs are - but who cares? I love them for the sonics they provide and the depth of color they afford me.

finally
Not to violate any confidentiality agreement between me and Apple corp, I believe my audio drop out problem (re: my last post) is finally solved so.....I will give this plug a hearty 5 stars!

I loved it when I heard it working for about a minute
Whether it's the fault of Apple computers or UA , the bottom line is that my brand new iMac doesn't work with my Apollo Quad. A problem that has now for me been over a month with no solution as of yet. So.........I'll review this software and the interface when some party can get around a fix. I am not the only one who has been inconvenienced both financially and time wise by this issue and the fact that, to this day UA states on it's site that this unit is supported by the 2013 iMacs makes them responsible to a great degree.

Transparent
I will go to this compressor if I really need to dig into something to obtain substantial and uncolored signal management. Since it's attack and release times are non-adjustable it's either going to work really well or it's not depending upon the tempo of the program material unless you pair it with another compressor like the 1176 to catch the super fast transients if needed. It's pro's are it's simplicity to setup and it's tidy throughput. You can get massive signal management out of the LA-3A with very little setup. It's release time is substantially faster than the LA-2A which makes this unit more flexible in my opinion. A youthful LA-2A... clean, tidy and agile.

As good as it gets
This is about as close as you will get to the real thing.
Superb colour and detail, what more could you wish for ?
I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone wanting "that" sound.
Remember the "Blade runner" soundtrack ? then get your CS80 out !!.

One of the best UA
Compression very warm and useful on any type of sound. The controls are different and efficient. The presets are great (even though I always change something). The presence of sound, also used in mastering, increases dramatically. Highest mark.

Superb!
I've been playing with both the 660 and 670 for a while now and have been impressed. Today however I completed a classical guitar recording that needed lots of dynamic range but required some peaks taming. Since this was a solo instrument recording I had to be careful not to destroy the tone of the guitar. I tried a few compression options and the 660 blew them all away. Giving just the sound i was looking for. I own all of the UA offerings plus various other industry standards. Never hand to honour of trying the real thing, but there tools are utterly amazing.

I'm absolutely in love with this compressor. It's like butter.

Great on acoustic!
it really is amazing having the Fairchild pllug-in available for mixing. Considering how rare these units are, Universal Audio has once again made it possible for the world to experience the character of this great unit.

review
I am unable to use any of the many many UA plug-ins since I have updated to 7.4.1, as I get -38 and -50 errors repeatedly.
If I cannot get this resolved, I will be forced to use competitor products, which are not my first choice. Very frustrated.

Best Emulation ever made...
The legacy series are ok , but the new 1176 series are the Best Emulations
in the market. The first time i run these new plugs, i fall in love...really smooth
and Punchy. If you want better, just the original hardware !!! Thanks UAD team...

Not just another compressor.
Wow! Currently I am working on some 60s style Rock tracks and this plugin came just at the right moment for the work ... sounds like true tube compression and circuitry, (FINALLY!) has a mix button for parallel compression and a very interesting and usable MS-mode.

New Pultec EQ Collection
UAD enhanced this older plugin again like the LA-2As and 1176 collection. Sounds awsome for me!
But...now it contains one disadvantge compared to the older plugin before:
The first version is having the Mid-Band visible on one plug, this one you have to navigate between the two; three if you want to include the LP/HP. It'd be nice to have the option to have them all visible in one instance. I need now 3 insert slots in one channel to work with this plugin and the switching between the 3 slots is annoying.
Please offer us a version that contains all 2 or 3 eqs in one plugin like before.

My new desert Island compressor
Finally, a UAD comp with a wet/dry knob! But so much more than that. The sound, the variety between the 660 & 670, the excellent saturation, variable knee, M/S and the ability to dial in the amount you want (wet/dry) makes this incredibly versatile - a rich tonal palette for everything but absolute transparency. But in a digital world, transparency is often the problem - and here is an A+ solution!
This and the API stuff shows a stepped up game from UAD - still the king!
