My heavens...
To learn how much of the sound of Capitol Records was in its reverb chamber was astonishing. Such an education. I applied this to a mix that was relatively dry and the difference was immediate and beautiful. It sounded like a record... because that's what so often makes records sound the way they do. It's not just reverb. It's a combination of room tone, speakers, and the mics used to record the sound coming out of them. This, along with the Motown reverb chambers and Sound City Studios has given me an instant education and an appreciation for the necessity for such quality sounding rooms and the benefits they bring to a song or an individual track. In short, they bring things to life. I love dry tracks. They are very often my favorite. But when a room sound is needed (and I am realizing how much more they are needed than I realized for many things) these are my go-to room sounds. The ease and instinctual nature of the interface is exceptional and a pleasure to work with. The name of the game is subtly and this (and the other rooms I mentioned) has a delicate and sensitive response to the slightest adjustment and when the right sound is found it is simply magical.
